Air conditioning repair

A system that stops cooling in a Florida August is not a job that waits. We diagnose first, put the price in writing, and start only once you have said yes.

The diagnosis comes with numbers

Supply and return temperatures, static pressure, refrigerant pressures, amperage at the compressor. We write down what we measured and what it should have read, so the fault is something you can see rather than something you have to take our word for. If we cannot show you why a part failed, we do not charge you for it.

What usually goes wrong here

In this part of Florida the same handful of faults come round again and again: a coil choked with dirt that starves the airflow, a drain line blocked until the safety switch cuts the system out, a capacitor that gives up in the first real heat of the year, and — on the beachside — condenser fins eaten by salt air. Knowing which is which before opening anything is most of the job.

Repair or replace, with both numbers

There is a point where putting money into an old system stops making sense, and it is not the same point for every house. We give you the cost of the repair, the cost of replacing, and what each one is likely to do to your electricity bill — and we tell you which one we would choose. Sometimes that answer is the repair, even when replacing pays us better.

Nothing starts before you approve it

The written quote is itemised: parts, labour and what is covered afterwards. If we open the unit and find something we did not see from outside, we stop and call you. You will not find a line on the invoice that you had not read first.

Common questions

  • My system runs but the house does not get cold. Is that a repair?

Usually yes, and usually it is airflow rather than the compressor: a dirty coil, a collapsed duct or a filter nobody has changed. It is worth looking before assuming the worst.

  • Do you charge for coming out?

Repair diagnostics carry a service fee, which we credit against the work if you approve it. The written quote on a new installation is free.

  • The unit freezes over. What does that mean?

Ice on the line or the coil almost always means the system is not getting enough air across it, or it is low on refrigerant. Both need looking at: running it frozen is how compressors die.

  • How quickly can you come?

Most visits are booked within the same week. If the system is completely down we prioritise it.

Emergency

Is the system completely down?

That is the call to make, not the form to fill in. Tell us what it is doing and we prioritise it.
