Common questions
The questions we get asked on the phone, answered here so you do not have to ask them.
How fast can you come out?
Most visits are booked within the same week. If the system is completely down we prioritise it.
Do you charge for the estimate?
The written quote on a new installation is free. Repair diagnostics carry a service fee that we credit against the work if you approve it.
Should I repair or replace my unit?
It depends on the age, the failure and the running cost. We give you both numbers and tell you which one we would pick — sometimes that is the repair, even when replacing pays us better.
How often does a system need servicing?
Twice a year in Florida: before the cooling season and before the heating season. It is also what most manufacturers require to keep the warranty valid.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Licence and insurance details are on every written quote, before you sign anything.
Do you work on systems you did not install?
Yes. The first visit takes a little longer because we start by finding out what is actually there.
My house is cold and still feels damp. Why?
Usually an oversized system. It cools the air fast, shuts off before it has pulled the humidity out, and leaves you cold and clammy at the same time — which in Florida is the worst of both. It is a sizing problem, not a thermostat problem.
Can you quote over the phone?
Not before somebody has seen the equipment. A price given blind is a price that changes, and that is the part of this trade that goes wrong most often.
Do you work outside the towns on your list?
Often, yes. The list is where we work most days, not a fence. Just outside it the only way to know is to call and ask.
